File2Xcart, an exciting new product from HCS, allows you to easily
interface your First State Accounting (FSA) Inventory with a web site
shopping cart. You can add new items to the web site, delete obsolete
ones, or change prices, descriptions, etc. without ever leaving your
filePro based inventory system. You do not need to know any web
programming at all to take full control of your web shopping cart. See

Here’s how it works:
We use a product called X-cart as our web based shopping cart software.
The program is the base package for hundreds, maybe thousands of diverse
companies’ shopping carts. It is very inexpensive: $229.00. Check out

look and feel of the shopping cart using various “skins” that come with
the system, or you can purchase third party skins from various vendors.
The X-cart software needs to reside on a web server connected to the
Internet. You can either host from your own site, or more likely, rent
space on a virtual server from an ISP. The virtual server looks and
feels like your own in-house Linux box, and you have full control of it.
This service will cost about $40/month.
To get your inventory up to the web site shopping cart, you must either
log on on-line and tediously input all of your inventory detail, or
finagle an import from a spread sheet. Either way, it is time consuming,
duplicate work when you already have the information entered in your

Now here’s where we come in. We have created an interface that will take
all the data that you have entered into FSA Inventory and post it to the
web site at the push of a button (or you can set it to run
automatically). Price changes, descriptions, images, weights, units of
measure, all show up on line a few seconds after posting.
With file2xcart, you specify what items go on what page of your web
site. First you set up a site structure of levels and categories, then
specify page names and items to show on each page. Items can show on
more than one page. Only items specified on a page will get dumped up to
the web. You can also temporarily disable pages.
For those interested in the technical side of how this works: we dump
the selected data to files, then ftp the formatted data to your web site
and run a command to pull the files into the MYSQL data base that X-cart
uses to create it’s pages. X-cart can handle credit card transactions
and order taking. Another function of our file2xcart product is that it
will pull orders entered through the web site back to the FSA order
