K. Elizabeth Burket, 100, The Village at
Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, passed away early Tuesday
morning at The Village.
She was born in Salemville,
daughter of the late Jason E. and Hattie (Miller) Hoover.
She married Mahlon B. Burket Nov. 28, 1928, near New
Enterprise. He preceded her in death March 28, 1968.
Surviving are two
daughters: Mary A. Gold of Martinsburg and Ruth A. Clark of
New Enterprise; two sons: Virgil E. and wife, Betty, of
Summerville, Fla., and Robert E. and wife, Ann, of rural
Martinsburg; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 15
great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Genevieve LeCrone of
Lititz; and a brother, John Hoover of Glenside.
She was preceded in death
by two sisters: Laura Mae Raffensperger and infant Mary
Josephine; and two brothers: Lawrence and infant Franklin.
Mrs. Burket was a former
licensed practical nurse, having previously been employed at
Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, and Morrisons Cove Home,
Martinsburg. She also did private duty nursing in the Morrisons
Cove area.
Mrs. Burket was a member of
Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg. She was a past
member of the former Martinsburg Civic Club, and she enjoyed
gardening, quilting, birds and flowers.
Friends will be received from
6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at John C. Bolger Funeral
Home Inc., Martinsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at Memorial Church of the
Brethren, Pastor Joel F. Nogle officiating. Private interment
will be at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
